- Ensure EPC Contractor, Module Supplier, and BESS Supplier follow receiving and chain of custody requirements within the Project agreements, including timely reporting of missing/damaged items and timely re-ordering and delivery of replacement parts, as required
- Support the Construction Site Manager to perform Owner’s representation oversight and quality control for module and BESS deliveries, breakage incidents and warranty claims;
- Monitor EPC contractor progress and report potential delays or schedule risks to critical milestones to Construction Site Manager;
- Inspection and monitoring of tensioning and torquing to ensure compliance with OEM specifications;
- Inspection of tool calibration procedures and documentation to ensure compliance with OEM specifications;
- Inspection of foundation piles to ensure compliance with design documents, positional accuracy, pile reveal and specifications;
- Inspection of racking installation to ensure compliance with design documents and OEM specifications;
- Inspection of EPC contractor’s module installation practices, addressing any quality or breakage concerns proactively and investigating related issues in depth;
- Verification of EPC contractor’s PV module logistics plan with periodic inspections of laydown areas as suitable and in compliance with OEM specifications;
- Complete block-level mechanical completion inspections and document and track punch list items to closeout;
- Monitor and report to Owner on completion of module supplier responsibilities as defined in the MSA to include punch list and module supplier paperwork delivery;
- Review EPC contractor lift plans and oversee lifting and rigging procedures;
- Oversee and monitor PV module warranty claims by EPC contractor in compliance with Module Supply Agreement;
- Oversee and monitor BESS offloading and installation activities of EPC contractor in compliance with Energy Storage Supply Agreement;
- Ensure proper use and handling by EPC contractor of any specialty tooling and shipping fixtures supplied by OEM;
- Recommend acceptance of completed mechanical works;
- Report any issues to the Construction Site Manager;
- Review EPC contractor QC documentation, test reports and serve as liaison to contractor, BESS vendor, and module vendor for any dispute resolution or issues;
- Document and track any non-conformities or demurrage charges to closeout, and
- Attend all pertinent onsite meetings, including Plan of Day Meetings, Preparatory Meetings, Monthly Meetings etc.
- SOX control responsibilities may be part of this role, which are to be adhered to where applicable.
- Maintain quality control documentation for all mechanical works.
- Serve as point of contact for mechanical questions from the EPC contractor and OEM.
- Ensure compliance with PV Module and Energy Storage Supply Agreement requirements.
- Tracks non-conformances and quality items to closure.
- Ensures punch list items are resolved and closed adequately.
- Works collaboratively with Construction Site Manager and other site management personnel, as well as the Owner Project Management Team.
- Upholds safety standards, requirements and ensures safety protocols onsite are followed.
- Communicates effectively and professionally.
- Represent the organization with composure and professional candor.
- Read and fully understand the mechanical scope of work and QC requirements as outlined in the following documents:
- Construction Agreement and Exhibits
- Module Supply Agreement
- Energy Storage Supply Agreement
- Main Transformer Supply Agreement
- Others as applicable
- Read and be familiar with the requirements of EPC contractor’s Site Safety Plan.
- Actively participate in EPC contractor All-hands Safety Meetings and morning safety meetings.
- Immediately report any significant injuries to the Construction Site Manager, Owner Projec Manager and Owner Safety Manager.
- In the event of a life-threatening injury or a fatality follow the Emergency Notification Procedure.
- The Mechanical Inspector will monitor the completion of the EPC contractor mechanical completion punch list items and review the as-built drawings for completeness.
- Perform a detailed quality check of EPC contractor’s mechanical as-built drawings.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a similar role in the solar construction industry.
- Experience installing and inspecting PV racking systems and driven pile foundations.
- Experience with GameChange racking or tracker projects is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of both civil and structural installation, civil engineered drawings and quality control inspections.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, and problem-solving techniques;
- Working knowledge of OSHA requirements.
- Current OSHA 30 certification.
- Comfortable with fast paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to solve problems and make informed decisions quickly.
- Able to create and maintain quality control documents in Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Attentive to details and efficiencies.
- Must have a valid current driver license.
