- Coordinates the scheduling of shipments and notifies concerned departments of arrival dates.
- Investigate and resolve problems with shipments, carriers, US & MX Brokers, and US & MX customs.
- Negotiates pricing with domestic and foreign shippers and customs brokers.
- Plans and coordinates the importing, exporting, and follows through on materials and finished products in transit to comply with the Company's requirements.
- Supervises the expediting of imports and exports and maintains information on tariffs, licenses, and restrictions by U.S., Mexican, and other Countries' Customs Authorities.
- Develops the maquila programs and submits the required reports before the corresponding Government Authorities.
- Responsible for the compliance of the shipping system, meeting customs regulations from the U.S., Mexico, and other countries.
- Maintains the integrity of the shipment system.
- Responsible for selecting, Training, Motivating, developing, and acting as a facilitator to the associates of the Shipping Department.
- Supervises and coordinates the activities of subordinates to facilitate the implementation and operation of the Company.
- Develops improvement projects with the purpose of optimizing the metrics of Material Control, such as inventory turnover, customer service, on-time deliveries, etc.
- Elaborates on daily, Weekly, and Monthly reports.
- Monthly reports follow up on the KPI of the plant. Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-compliance related to customs clearance or international logistics.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through established communication channels.
- Cover operation gaps or needs in domestic duties according to the requirements of customers.
- Bachelor's degree or Logistics engineering
- 5 years of experience in Logistics or the customs department.
- Knowledge of the law and regulations in International Commerce, Incoterms, and transportation modes.
- Deal with customs brokers, carriers (local and international), and forwarders.
- Communication Skills (oral and written).
- Logistics routes, parcels, heavy weight, ocean, and ground.
- Analysis capacity,
- Identify and implement improvements to increase the efficiency of labor.
- Knowledge of the Maquila program, CTPAT, OEA, and ISO.
- Knowledge of the modes of shipments LCL, FCL, LTL, and FTL.
- Cost reductions and savings.
- English 95% (reading, writing, oral, capable of establishing a fluid conversation and presentation, technical languages in logistics terminology).
