- Manage, develop, coordinate, and optimize carrier relationships. Classify
carriers by role (strategic, niche, etc.) and invest time as appropriate.
- Develop strategic Top to Top relationships with key carriers. Lead efforts
to develop strong relationships at all levels – executive levels at carrier
and Crane, execution focused meetings between carrier Sales / Ops and
Crane account teams.
- Identify new carriers to add to the core carrier base or to migrate from
non-strategic to strategic roles.
- Monitor the purchased transportation spend of assigned carriers.
- Work directly with compliance to help identify and fix carrier issues related
to tender acceptance and carrier service percentages
- Lead or assist in problem resolution between accounts and carriers.
- Identify available capacity for difficult lanes and recommend carriers
- Assist in the efforts to confirm committed capacity, negotiate carrier
contracts and rates- Liaison with account team and accounting department to resolve billing
discrepancies
- Perform "Ad-Hoc” Reporting as required to support account, consulting or
other initiatives
- Participation in the Crane Response to RFI and RFP for potential new
3PL customers by Create regional and national distribution lists per mode
for carrier management
- Assist in helping to create a Crane carrier recruiting initiative
- Help negotiate carrier rates for new and existing business
- Understand and help handle implementation calls between carrier and
Crane
- Handle follow up calls that are scheduled on awarded business with the
carriers
- Provide weekly and monthly reports to appropriate management
- Handle carrier quarterly business reviews in assigned region
- Other duties as assigned
