Join us and make it happen!The Cargo Superintendent supervise cargo operations, maintain quality cargo handling procedures and damage prevention in accordance with WW’s processes and instructions.
To ensure stevedores and vendors are well understanding and fully dedicated to WW business.
Job DescriptionWHAT YOU'LL DO
  • Manage and organize vessel operations in (Port of Competence) in co-operation with stevedore and crew.
  • Ensure NST guidelines checklists are used during operations.
  • Ensure cost efficient operation and follow up on cost control for port charges.
  • Monitor the stevedore operations and performance to improve cargo-handling methods, ensure compliance with WWL standards, and make operations more cost effective.
  • Ensure accuracy of stowage plans and operation reports and correct any errors.
  • Responsible for damage prevention and cargo quality performance and assist in the training of stevedores.
  • Assist as required by Port Manager with local authorities and vendors on behalf of WWL to reduce operating costs associated to both vessel and GSA budgets.
  • Follow up of utilization of vessel and equipment, reporting back available space to Central Planner and next port of load when applicable.
  • Monitor condition and cleanliness of vessel cargo holds, equipment and lashing material and report as required.
  • Keeps his/her direct manager informed of all relevant issues affecting the service in (Port of Competence).
  • Actively lead and participate in continuous improvement groups/activities between Stevedore, Terminal and Operations. Focusing on NST, Quality, Productivity, Safety and Cost.
  • Actively assist in maintaining and improving key performance indicators in operations.
  • Maintain effective communication, to include constructive and consistent feedback, with all vessels, Vessel Planning and Operations Divisions of WWL areas locally, regionally and globally. This includes both pre and post vessel reports.
Job RequirementsWHAT YOU'LL NEED
  • Knowledge of operational processes and instructions.
  • Thorough knowledge of practical daily operational tasks associated handling of special cargo.
  • Have a clear understanding of the team concept and provide support and feedback to all colleagues.
  • Knowledge of different vessel and cargo types relevant to WWL.
  • Ability to handle and work well under time constraints and pressure.
  • Good knowledge about applicable IT-System (SPS, SAGA, CONTEMPUS, COGNOS 8, VOP, DCS Scanning, etc.).
  • Knowledge of work practices for Stevedores and labor (including labor ordering and capabilities).
  • Knowledge and experience in how to communicate in English.
