Job Description:Position Summary:
Performs a variety of professional level engineering duties. Test Engineers create and implement test cases, including documenting defects and failures, to ensure a quality product.Primary Responsibilities:
  • Sets up, programs, and runs test lab equipment
  • Designs tests to ensure customer specifications are met
  • Provides feedback to Program Engineering, R&D Engineering, and Advanced Engineering on tests requested
  • Performs failure analysis on tests that do not pass test specifications
  • Troubleshoots lab equipment failures and help to resolve issues quickly
  • Prepares test reports for external and internal customers
  • Provides feedback on test results to external customers and be available to attend customer meetings
  • Works with Lab Technicians with a goal of minimizing LTR’s past due
  • Ensure the accuracy and consistency of data results through thorough documentation processes
  • Must operate in a manner that reinforces, supports and is consistent with the Cooper Standard Leadership Model
  • Ensures 6S, housekeeping, and health & safety standards are maintained
  • Contracting, scheduling, and supervising tests with sub‐contracting facilities
  • May, on occasion, be required to perform duties other than those specified in this description
Education and Qualifications:
  • Four Year College or University Degree or equivalent
  • Two to four years of relevant work experience
  • Fabrication, blueprint reading skills, and equipment knowledge preferred
  • Knowledge of statistics
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, as well as technical and analytical problem‐solving skills
  • Skills or working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
  • Good interpersonal skills to work effectively with others in a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Recognizes and solves typical problems that can occur in own work area without supervisory approval; evaluates and selects solutions from established alternatives
  • Impacts own team through the quality of the services or information provided; follows standardized procedures and practices and receives regular but moderate supervision and guidance
  • Exchanges information and seeks understanding
  • Willingness and ability to travel, as necessary
