- Protect and promote the company's reputation, interests and positions with relevant external stakeholders (policymakers and influencers, patient advocacy groups, trade associations and media); and
- Provide related advice and counsel.
- Be the corporate expert for the Mexicali and the overall Mexican political system; advise on key interactions with relevant policymakers.
- Work in coordination with in-market and headquarters-based stakeholders to drive an integrated government affairs strategy that advances our country and global business objectives.
- Establish a strong network of external stakeholders, such as key policymakers and influencers, third-party organizations, medical societies, patient advocacy groups, and peer companies.
- Represent Intuitive's position in direct discussion with diverse government stakeholders and third-party organizations.
- Brief executives on key policy issues, messages and associated business risks and opportunities in advance of external engagements.
- Monitor policy and public affairs developments and make appropriate recommendations to company leaders.
- Manage external government affairs/public affairs firms to support strategy and activity as needed.
- Draft, edit, revise relevant external messaging related to government affairs.
- Attend meetings, events and conferences to represent the company from a Government Affairs perspective.
- Direct activities and efforts of government affairs consultants/business organizations in line with GPA goals and strategies.
- Establish media monitoring and analysis capabilities to improve awareness and better anticipate risks and challenges.
- Serve as company media contact in Mexico; establish internal standards, guidelines and processes associated with responses to media in Mexico.
- Lead development and utilization of external messaging in support of the company's in-market objectives.
- Build and maintain relationships with key media.
- Manage external PR firms to support strategy and in-market activity, as needed.
- Support reputation focused issues management processes
- 12+ years' experience in government, politics or political campaign work, or a similar role in public affairs
- Demonstrated track record of strong advocacy and communications skills.
- Bilingual - Strong English and Spanish language skills
- Ability to travel throughout Mexico and to Intuitive's U.S.-based facilities in Sunnyvale, Ca and Atlanta, Ga as required.
- Ability to effectively analyze, write and deliver information, and explain, advocate and negotiate positions and issues to a broad spectrum of individuals.
- Excellent organizational skills, especially ability to monitor and manage multiple campaigns and tracks of work simultaneously, while ensuring consistency with the company's overarching goals, approach, and brand.
- Ability to work independently while also working in a matrixed organization across countries.
- Ability to tailor materials to effectively communicate with multiple internal and external audiences, including colleagues in different departments and countries, different high-value external stakeholders, and media.
- Responsive and focused on executing in a fast-paced environment.
- Willing to contribute to projects that fall outside of core responsibilities, as needed.
- University degree required
- Experience in healthcare and/or global manufacturing-oriented business
- Experience in a global corporate environment.
