
Senior Specialist, Production Line Transfers

- Accurately quantifies MRP planned and non-MRP (floor stock) component materials associated with a given production line start-up or transfer;
- Leads completion of applicable reviews of supply chain health and material master attribute data associated with those materials quantified as being in scope to a given production line start-up or transfer (i.e. materials refinement activities);
- Coordinates logistics to ensure smooth transitions of purchased raw materials, including identifying space and equipment requirements, and overseeing stock movements across sites to support line transfers including alignment of key reporting tools and metrics to align with the same; and
- Position will work closely with New Product Introduction (NPI) Supply Chain, Planning, Engineering, and Logistics teams to plan and implement line transfer activities.
- Leads “material refinement activities” that can include, but are not limited to verifying material status and health attributes such as:
- Supply and inventory health;
- MRP planning type;
- Special procurement key;
- Lot sizing;
- Delivery lead times;
- Minimum order quantities;
- Direct to plant or stock transport order set-ups;
- Source and information record completion in SAP;
- MRP controller codes and
- Verification of applicable scrap rates
- Ensures findings and updates that result from “material refinement activities” are accurately updated to core business applications and reports (includes SAP, Agile and Tableau). Works with responsible functions as necessary to execute.
- May also serve as Purchasing representative to cross functional teams responsible for line transfer readiness and production activation. Activities may include, but are not limited to:
- Creates and presents material supply readiness plans and status reports that are applicable to new or transitioning production lines;
- Ensures Receiving, Inspection and Warehouse functions are informed and updated as to material storage requirements and/or processing impacts to result from production line additions or changes;
- May coordinate and oversee inventory transitions across manufacturing plants;
- Aligns key business reports with expected production line changes; and
- Engages with Procurement, Transportation and Sourcing teams as to specific delivery routing changes needed from suppliers to support Production requirements
- Able to understand and refine supporting business processes to support effective production line start ups and transfer activities, which may include incorporating refinements to existing work instructions, check lists and other tools necessary to scale the business.
- Highly proficient in MS Office products and ERP systems.
- Proven abilities to effectively engage with internal colleagues (in a matrixed environment) as well as external stakeholders to achieve intended goals and objectives. Key abilities include: conflict resolution, consensus building and gaining commitment of stakeholders to achieve results.
- Detailed understanding of material planning, demand scheduling and supply planning.
- Working knowledge of material pull systems and other lean based material handling principles.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects successfully
- Ability to make effective presentations to peers and suppliers
- Strong analytical capacity and data processing capabilities.
- Project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret business needs and translating them into operational requirements.

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of internal customers and suppliers.
- BS degree or equivalent and 7+ years of experience in purchasing direct materials with varied mix, volume and technical complexities.
- ~20% travel to both domestic and international operating sites and suppliers
- 5+ years operations management experience with medium to large size medical device manufacturing organization.
- Masters level degree in business management, finance or engineering discipline.
- Significant experience with core business systems including SAP, Agile.
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) and experience with maquiladora operating structure.
- Certifications: CPSM, CPIM, and/or PMP desired
