- To be successful as an industrial engineer you should be able to design production systems that maximize productivity, reduce wastefulness and production issues, are cost-efficient, and ensure high product quality.
- Design the layout of facilities and determining personnel requirements, maintaining labor models.
- Improve site Material Flow by using tools like PFEP, Floor space Planning tools and Inv. Calculations.
- Calculate Capacity and maintain site capacity models.
- Perform Indirect Labor time studies, calculate utilization and developing action plans for improving plant efficiency.
- Improve Material flow and introduce Material automation. (AGV/VGV etc.,)
- Reviewing production schedules, processes, specifications, and related information.
- Map production processes / use Value Stream Mapping to identify constraints and help with constraint management.
- Developing and implementing process improvements and analyzing current processes for new technological upgrades.
- Developing design and production standards in cooperation with management and Shop personnel.
- Preparing material and equipment lists, purchase orders, cost analyses, and estimated production costs.
- Training staff for new processes and providing instructions and manuals.
- Managing process/project documentation and preparing reports.
- Identifies waste and opportunities for the business to improve in (among others by using Lean principles and methodologies).
- Collaborate with site lean teams for improvements, participate or lead Kaizen events, and waste reduction.
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Engineering.
- Relevant work experience: Internships, co-op experience, or collegiate projects
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Troubleshooting skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in MS Office and AutoCAD.
- Experience or knowledge on Time studies, calculating Capacity, Labor models, and Toyota Production System principles.
