You will serve as a subject matter expert for regional trade operations for our divisions and brands, and due to the ever-evolving international trade landscape, will be part of a best-in-class international trade compliance program. You will also create, maintain, and train trade operations procedures and requirements to support the growth from a regional export/import compliance perspective.Your TeamYou will report to the Director Global Trade Operations and will be assigned to one of our U.S. or Mexican locations but will interface with all functions impacted by our regional trade operations teams. You will directly lead and oversee 3 teams of local Trade Operations Specialists, Trade Operations Analysts, and their supervisor.You may indirectly manage other trade related staff with regional and local trade responsibilities.What You Need
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent required in a related field e.g., international business, logistics, supply chain, or trade compliance.
- 5+ years of international trade experience, focusing primarily on customs and trade operations compliance and leadership experience of a diverse team.
- Knowledge and understanding of trade operations practices and procedures (e.g., IMMEX, Maquiladora, Free Trade Agreements, Free Trade Zones, Incoterms, Supply Chain Trusted Trader Programs like CPAT, AEO, other).
- Ensure trade operations compliance with applicable export/import regulations for the organization (classification, valuation, origin declaration, monitoring, documentation, etc.)
- Build and maintain partnerships with trade and customs compliance service providers and develop / document customs management processes.
- Identify and drive on-going cost management and cost reduction activities through cross training, cross functional process improvements, and other measures or initiatives.
- Key performance indicator development and management.
- Support training of employees on supply chain operations compliance changes/updates; function as trade operation expert in your responsible region.
- Collaborate with Global Trade Compliance team and Internal Audit team to identify/mitigate potential compliance risks.
- Strong experience with MS Office Applications.
- Certified Customs Specialist, Customs Broker, or similar trade compliance related qualifications.
- Fluent in English and Spanish
- Logistics and supply chain management experience.
- Working proficiency language skills in Hungarian, Portuguese, and/or German
- SAP user knowledge
- Be willing to travel up to 25%, domestic and international.
- This role is eligible to work remotely full-time with occasional trips into a U.S. HARMAN office location as necessary (this could be on 24-hour notice).
